How can I stop my under 11 girls from mucking around at training? I have sat them down to talk with them and they say yes yes and then bang stupid behaviour
the best way i find is to keep them busy not to much standing around time and threaten that those who muck around at training will be sitting on the side lines on Saturdays lol.
I have myself and another coach and we split the girls up. Goes well until the one girl mucks around again. She likes to take over and make up her drills. But on game day she is awesome. Why cant they train like they play.
I am coaching two teams, a year 6 and year 7 team. The potential for mucking around is huge! I have overcome this with the threat of making anyone who isn't concentrating on what's happening gets to run twice around the whole facility! We practice on a set of courts that is 3 x 3 (9 courts in total), no-ones had to run yet!!
with coaching always comes the headache of what the consequences can be without causinf too much disruption personally I have found that if one plays up then not only do they get punished the whole squad and then you will find their peers soon pull them into line i.e. all douing 20 pushups or all doing suicides. This theory has never failed me yet and it also makes everyone accountable
in more ways than one
Split circle defence is the system the top three NSL teams have built their identity around in 2026. The Goal Keeper and Goal Defence divide the circle into zones, switch in synchrony, and make every passing option look risky. Here is how to coach it.
Most netball shooters know how to shoot. The difference at the top is who can shoot when it counts. A structured 10-minute pre-game mental routine is the most under-used performance tool in club netball - and it is the simplest to teach.
The best Goal Defences in the 2026 NSL season are intercepting more than ever. The reason is not raw athleticism. It is a deliberate shift from chasing the attacker to driving into the flight path of the ball. Here is how to coach it.
