Am having real issues with our girls stepping. Other than the "Ice Cream" drill, does anyone have any ideas on how to tackle this? We were lucky this week as we had 2 umpires that didn't call it much - but this won't continue (i hope)
whats the "ice cream" drill? i tend to just make them run to me and jump and land with 2 feet. that way they have 2 grounded feet. also make sure they are landing with their chest up. forward momentum and off balance landings tend to lead to stepping as they cant stop. i also like to teach my girls to hop or jump just before they catch the ball. keeps them running onto the ball, and have them landing with 2 feet together, then get them to pivot and throw to the person where they just ran from, as an add on drill.

Split circle defence is the system the top three NSL teams have built their identity around in 2026. The Goal Keeper and Goal Defence divide the circle into zones, switch in synchrony, and make every passing option look risky. Here is how to coach it.
Most netball shooters know how to shoot. The difference at the top is who can shoot when it counts. A structured 10-minute pre-game mental routine is the most under-used performance tool in club netball - and it is the simplest to teach.
The best Goal Defences in the 2026 NSL season are intercepting more than ever. The reason is not raw athleticism. It is a deliberate shift from chasing the attacker to driving into the flight path of the ball. Here is how to coach it.
