Do you have any suggestions for trials?
I have 7 cones with each of the positions on it. Students all have numbers on their legs. They line up behind the cones, making sure that they get to play in all their chosen positions. You play as many games as needed so that you and your other selectors can rank players from 1-3. Once all players are ranked you can then divide them up in their numbers. e.g. Top players (number 1's) all go court one, ranked 2 players to court 2 and ranked 3 players to court 3. They play games on these courts against players of similar ability. Any player that requires to go up or down courts can be moved accordingly.
fitness testing??? gives you a good idea of how capable and determined they are. my trials always start with fit testing.
also use really basic drills to see how skilled the players actually are. it all good that you have a 100% shooter, but is it when all they do is step? and also play games and give them their least preferred positions, gives you a good idea about what sort of personalities you have to pick from. anger management or a good sport?
