I am going to be playing against a short shooter in the next 2 games (I'm about 7inches taller than her) and I want to do some drills that will help me with defending the drop ball and low balls into the circle. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks, Siobhan
im all for my tall defenders when they come up against a short shooter to defend from in front of their player. it makes it hard for the shooter to see and gives a visual block to the shooter trying to get the ball. the most common low pass though would be the bounce so be in front and have your mid court players pass a lot of bounce and rolling balls to the shooter and and use your footwork to get you where you can intercept and catch the pass. defending is all about fast footwork, so if you can keep up with her then you can defend whatever pass comes your way.
good luck

No more 50/50 toss-ups. When simultaneous infringements occur, possession now goes to the team that last had the ball. Here's what it means for your coaching.
