I need to have a fair system with all girls attending every game and changing position each quarter...Some suggestions please
Holly this question was raised recently, so for an instant view to a number of responses go and have a quick look (it has been brought up on a number of occasions so go back through the archives and see what you find).
but i currently have 10 U11s in my team and they all turn up for a game each week. if you have a very young and non competive team then just rotate through the girls realising that 2 will ALWAYS have half a game off more than the others each game. but you can just change who has half a game off each week.
if you want to be competive then you cant always have fair. as pointed out by others having one player off each week is an option, as well as splitting the team up into areas (defence (3) centre court (4) shooting (3),) and only rotating through those positions. that way you get more consistant playing and gelling withing the team.
there is no easy solution to this, but you need to make a decision as to whether you want to be fair and probably sacrafice competiteness, or less fair and be more competitive, or have a player off the entire match and only play with 9. you could give 2 players a game off and play with 8. thats the other option. me i dont have enough depth in my team to do anything other than break up the team into areas and teach the girls only to play 1-3 positions only.
Hi Holly,
Here's the recent answer Lee-Anne was referring to:
Q. Secret formula for a 10 player team roster?.
Hope this helps.

Split circle defence is the system the top three NSL teams have built their identity around in 2026. The Goal Keeper and Goal Defence divide the circle into zones, switch in synchrony, and make every passing option look risky. Here is how to coach it.
Most netball shooters know how to shoot. The difference at the top is who can shoot when it counts. A structured 10-minute pre-game mental routine is the most under-used performance tool in club netball - and it is the simplest to teach.
The best Goal Defences in the 2026 NSL season are intercepting more than ever. The reason is not raw athleticism. It is a deliberate shift from chasing the attacker to driving into the flight path of the ball. Here is how to coach it.
