Rugby: Contesting The Ruck

DESCRIPTION

  • This is a two person exercise, designed to improve ability at the ruck
  • Stand up a tackle tube
  • One player tackles the tube to the floor, before turning to face the opposite direction and ruck against a second player
  • The two players contest the ruck, with the tackle tube between their legs

COACHING POINTS

  • At the ruck, maintain a low body position, with a strong base
  • Push towards the opponent, or where necessary roll them away from the ruck
