
2 defenders are required to begin. Half the pitch is taken (half of an 11 aside pitch) for the possession game. Players should get in groups of 3, with a ball between their groups. The groups must keep possession of the ball between them, whilst the defenders must knock the balls off the pitch. If a defender takes the ball, that group must also become defenders. The last group wins, and upon ending, the game can restart (Depending on how long the previous took, but it shouldn't be too long) The other side of the pitch is used to warm up the goal keeper. The shooters should start off pushing the ball, to slowly warm up the goal keeper. Shots can be taken from the top of the shooting circle after a short while.
This session will put players under pressure, relating to game play. It will allow players to work with triangular passing, and work together to manoeuvre around the defenders. The starting defenders should be switched around, but this exercise allows almost everybody to have experience with both defensive and attacking practise. To allow everyone the chance to defend and attack, starting defenders should be replaced with the winners of the previous game. This warm-up can be adapted for a varying number of players.
