First of all, they will all do some stretches, starting from the neck, working their way down to their feet. The stretches will include different stretches to target each body part. We can then all stand in a circle and each person will take it in turn to do a stretch , until everyone has demonstrated one completing head to toe as a group. After we have stretched, I'll set out the cones in a square grid around 8x8 meters. We will split the team up in quarters, fairly, so there will be 4 players on each team. On one side of the grid there will be 4 rows of 2, and on the opposite side there will also be 4 rows of 2. They people who are first will lay on the floor and one side of the grid will run across the grid to the other players, and when the first player get's there, the first player on the other side will then do the same. They will repeat this process for 10 minutes to get them warmed up.
After their first warm up, half of the team will put a bib in their pocket, or the back of their trousers and will have to run with the ball to the other side. If they manage to get to the other side with the ball without their bib getting stolen, that team wins the game. If their bib get's stolen, they have to start from the other side. Each team will have 5 tries to do this. Their bibs can only be stolen if they have the ball. The team that does it the quickest wins.
After everyone is warmed up, we will start learning to pass. Everyone will line back up to the grid. They will be split into 4 groups of 4. The teams will all stand next to each other, having two teams on one side of the grid and two teams on the other side. The team standing at the front will go first, making sure the first person runs ahead a little bit then passes back to the second person, The second person will then run and pass back to the third person, and the third person will pass back to the fourth person. The teams will keep doing this to get used to the ball and try to learn how to catch and pass the ball.
For the last part of the session, we will play tag rugby. This will get the participants to get to know the rules of rugby in a safe way. The group will be split in half and, using the grid again, there will be one team at one end and the other team at the other end of the grid. The kids will run and try to get the ball to the other side by passing to their teammates and getting everyone involved. If anyone who has the ball get's touched, they have to stay where they are and put the ball down. Everyone will have 15 seconds to get back into position. When the whistle blows they can pick the ball up and try again. If the opposing team manages to catch the ball mid throw, then it will be their ball and they will put the ball down, and start playing when the whistle blows. This game will go on until the session time is over, which is an hour in total.
