Defense to attack

Your tips and session ideas have really brought some interest back...
Eifion, Rugby Coach

DESCRIPTION

  • Coach stands behind defenders and points to player on shield who must advance.
  • Tackle is made and players shift into correct defensive position, depending on position on the field.
  • Coach then points to next shield holder to advance, and the same thign is repeated.

COACHING POINTS

  • Players must not over-fold.
  • After a series of correct defensive line-ups, coach rewards the players with an attack option by calling a change of direction and rolling the ball to a player. The player must dive on the ball, allowing for a ruck to be set up.
  • The team must shift from defence to attack as quickly as possible.
