U9- Player with ball will run forward towards defender. Defender will also move forward but keep hands behind back. Defender will look to make contact with his shoulder at waist height or below on player with ball.
U11- Defender will be on knees. Attacker will move forward towards either side of defender. Defender will stay on knees while making a tackle leading with the shoulder.
U13- Both defender and attacker will start on feet. Defender looking to bring attacker to ground using proper tackling technique.
Player safety is of utmost importance.
Ensure that the tackler is leading with shoulder, locking hands together tightly and getting head on the correct side while completing tackle (head on top of tackled player/ cheek to cheek).
Ensure that the tackled player is not attempting to break fall by placing hand on ground before going to ground.
