Continuous drives - throwers with balls

*AUDIO DESCRIPTION ON* Delivering the ball midcourt through to the circle edge/shooters Set up:  Half court, two balls, 5+ players 1 player standing on base line, another player with the ball standing around the third line.  Description: Note: The video shows the drill being played out with 2 groups of players, you could just focus on one group i.e. 1 line, 1 V driver. The description is based on one group.  Player on base line near shooting post, V drives towards court edge and receives a pass from the player in the line with the ball.  Player who passes the ball drives directly to the circle edge in a straight line and receives a pass from the player who has driven out on the V.  Player who had initially drove out now drives into a position under the hoop to receive a pass from their player and put a shot up.     

*AUDIO DESCRIPTION ON* Set Up: Two balls, four cones, 4-6 players. Cones set up as a diamond, the two feeders opposite each other with a ball each. Two players in the middle as attackers/receivers. Attackers use ‘little feet’ to move around the other attacker in the middle. Attackers then split and drive to the outside cones. Feeders deliver a ball into the middle of the diamond. Attackers receive the pass from their right and move around the other attacker with ball in hand to deliver the ball to the opposite feeder.

*AUDIO DESCRIPTION ON* Set up:  Four corners of about 2-3 players, 1/3 space, 2 balls. Balls start in opposing corners.  Balls and player will be moving in an anti-clockwise rotation.  Players from the corner without a ball drive on a diagonal into the third space and receive a pass from player with ball in front of them (corner to their right).  Ball is received then passed on to the player at next corner, in anticlockwise direction.  Player who drove joins the line they passed the ball to. The ball continues to rotate anticlockwise. 

Full court, 6+ players, 1 passer, 1ball. Ball starts down one end of the court with a passer to start the drill. 3 sets of partners set up down the court. Partner set 1 drives away from passer then forwards. Passer decides who to pass the ball too. The player who does not recieve the pass is to drive out and down the court.  Other partners repeat this process.

Full team lined up down the length of the court about 2 metres off the midline. 1.Ball starts down one end of the court. Players are to drive straight to reci 2. Players are to make a movement (i.e. dodge) before receiving the ball in the middle of the court. Players to turn and pass down the court. 2. Players make a movement before driving into the middle of the court. 3. First player in the line 'clears out', second player drives foward to receive the pass. Pass is given to the player who has peeled out and so on down the court.  

*AUSIO DESCRIPTION ON* Set up: 1 ball, one third space, 1 feeder in between 2 lines of partners. Two players to drive out straight from baseline to top of the circle (approx.) they turn and drive out on a V to the side channels where the feeder passes ball to one of the drivers.  The driving player who did not receive the ball is to cut back to the top of the circle (middle channel) and receive pass from their partner.  The partner now without the ball cuts back into the middle channel to receive a straight pass from their partner. Ball is returned to stationary feeding player.

Full team cross drill Set up: 8+ players, one court space, 2 balls. Players set up in four corners in equal numbers, opposite lines facing each other. Both balls start on the same side with the person and the front of the line. Opposing front 2 players drive out on a diagonally and receive a pass from the opposite line. They turn pass back to the side they came from (but the opposite line). Then immediately become a defender for the person who now has the ball.  The person now at the front of the line, with the ball now delivers a pass to players who have driven out on a diagonal and the drill begins again. 

The purpose of this drill is to encourage Attackers to get into a position near to the transverse line when receiving a Centre pass. Set up 6 cones, beginning with 2 close to the middle and near the transverse line and then 2 more pairs of cones moving out and further away. The nearer cones are worth 3 points and as they get further away this decreases to 2pt and then 1pt. Aim is for the Attacker to get free and move into the centre third ready to receive a Centre pass. Attacker shouls look to shiftt he defender's bodyweight enough to reach the cone without being tagged by the Defender.

A starts with the ball ORANGE drives and receives the ball from A (1) RED drives straight to receive the ball from ORANGE (2) Orange does a 'give and go' to receive the ball back from Red, landing circle edge (3) ORANGE then drives high into the third to receive the ball back from RED (4) YELLOW drives out straight to receive the ball from RED (5) RED does a 'give and go' to receive the ball back from YELLOW (6) YELLOW then drives deep to land circle edge and receives the ball back from RED (7) BLUE drives into the circle and receieves the ball from YELLOW (8) The practice is then repeated in the same order. To begin tell each player to go back to their orignal queue - so they are practicing the same movement over and over. 

GK backline throw in GK backline passes to – WD on circle edge pocket – GK drives up for a square pass from WD – GD receives pass from GK in centre third – C receives a straight pass – GA straight pass – WA straight pass into the goal third – GS straight pass top of circle – WA circle edge pocket – pass into GA to put up shot.

Half the group have a ball each, the other half has to stand tactically in between the two lines. The players with the balls start behind the line and have to try and get across to the other line by using the static players (middle players can pivot on the spot). 1 or 2 catchers have to try and intercept the balls. Players caught out must either sit out or help catch out the remaining players. See how many of the attacking team can get successfully across to the other side!

One ball, half court, 1+ workers, 1 feeder, 4 cones 1. Worker starts at centre circle. Drives straight circle edge.  Drives diagonally out to either left or right, drives straight foward to circle edge, drives straight back drive, square drive to centre court then receives a pass at top of the circle.  2. Bring in defender

Split your players into 2 teams of 5. Teams play inside the coned area. The first team to complete 10 consecutive passes scores a point. Number of players and size of playing area can be varied depending on age and ability of your players.

*AUDIO DESCRIPTTION ON* Set up: One third, shooting end of court. One ball 5+ players Two players stand on base line with the ball.  Three stationary feeders assembled as a triangle facing the shooting circle (two either side of circle and one at the transverse line).    Description: Players on base line: Player closest to feeder passes the ball to standing feeder at side of circle.  Both players drive out from base line. Player who passed the ball drives around the feeder who was just passed to (diagonal drive). Other player drives towards the stationary feeder near transverse line (straight drive), they need to prepare to receive a pass.  First feeder catches and delivers a pass to the forward driving player before they get to the stationary feeder. The driving player with ball now passes ahead to the stationary feeder at the transverse line.  The first initial driver has driven around first feeder and aims for a cross court straight drive to the final feeder. Stationary feeder at transverse line delivers a pass to the initial driver which will be received mid court.  Initial driving player passes to the last stationary feeder in front of them and continues to drive around them. Other driving player would have driven around the transverse standing feeder and drives straight back towards base line and will receive a pass from the last stationary feeder midcourt before sending the last pass to the other driving player.  

In this exercise you have two feeders and then three attackers against two defenders. The first feeder (player x) starts the drill with a pass to white player 1. White player 1 has to pivot and then try and pick out the unmarked player. The defenders have to pick up one white player each and make the interception if the ball is passed to the player they've picked up.

A feeder, 2 attackers (A1, A2) and 2 defenders set up as shown in diagram. A1 moves forward round the circle edge, away from A2. At the same time A2 starts with the ball, gives it to the feeder and then runs into a space away from A1, as close to the circle edge as they can get. Feeder then has the option to pass to either of the attackers. Attacker's aim is to receive the ball on the circle edge. You can then play free flow of the ball with the same aim

1/3 space, 2 balls, 4+ players.   1. 2 players to stand on the sidelines with a ball each. 2. The other two players to stand side by side in the middle (one attack, one defence). 3. Attacking player to drive to the sideline to receive a pass, reset in the middle and receive a pass from the other sideline passer. 4. Players to catch one pass from each sideline is considered as one set. 5. Defender to actively defend.
