What are some good defence drills for WD and GD when defending the opponents centre pass
THEY COULD BOTH DOUBLE UP ON THE GA, ONE ON EITHER SIDE, AND LET THE CENTRE MARK THE WA.
There are lots of different options on a defensive centre pass. You could have your GD and WD squeeze their GA & WA as close as possible with your C in the middle of them (this will only work if your GD and WD work hard before their players are at the line to push them close to each other). The WD and GD stop their partners going wide and the C covers the middle. Or you could have your WD and GD pushing their partners wide to the sidelines with your C three foot marking the centre pass. This will promote a pass backwards so your GA and WA should be ready to intercept this pass. Or figure out who the more dominant attacker is on the centre pass (is it the GA or WA) and have her double marked. Or you could do a drop defence where the C, GD and WD drop off the centre pass into a zone and hunt the ball.
