I have an u14 team who get the ball and move to quickly through the court hence they are always chasing the ball. How can I slow them down so they get more control? Iâve tried bands and getting them to reset so they are ready for the ball coming down the court but to no avail!!!

Hi Karen,
I would simply advise putting certain conditions on the game. Children love competition and it has been proven to be a great way to get them to stop and think. Get them to play a normal game, or even in drills, but set certain conditions for example, that the ball carrier must hold the ball for 2 seconds before passing. If they are within 2 seconds, the ball gets turned over and given to the other team. It is likely your players will forget the rule to begin with, but after they start losing the ball they will certainly remember and abide by your conditions. This will help slow the game down and allow your players to get ahead of the ball, also try setting the condition that the ball must be reset before it is passed into the shooters or they lose possession.
Hope this helps.
