Just interested to hear other people's comments on when a player should start to concentrate on a position on court. I coach young girls and older girls and am amazed at how some girls get pigeon holed very early on as a shooter or as a centre for example. What do people think!?
every team a player plays in is different. so a player that plays shooter in one team, may play WA in another. so although i tend to play my girls in more set positions in my team that isnt to say they will be playing that next year in a different team, or that they play those positions for a rep team say. so for me, i dont have a problem of focussing on developing a players skill based on what her team needs her to do.
Agree with all Lee-anne has covered. Some players have obvious strengths, abilities and attitudes that suit some positions more than others but keep an open mind at the start of the season when you start with a new group of players as a change may be required from previous season`s team format. As players move up in the grades, versatility is a must and players pigeon holed too early can become a liability to work around.

No more 50/50 toss-ups. When simultaneous infringements occur, possession now goes to the team that last had the ball. Here's what it means for your coaching.
