Netball Tips For Positions C/Wa

Hi there,Anyone got any good tips for someone who plays C or Wa? Anything will be good, anything that will help me!!

Hi Gabriella,

Tips for C:
- The C is a crucial position as they can control the speed of the game, due to the lack of positional restriction.
- It is important for a C to recognise when the game is going too fast for your team (if players are out of position or behind the ball for example) and therefore use your full 3 seconds - to allow your players to settle and get in front of the ball.
- When defending, you should try keep your C wide towards the sideline so they have minimal impact on the game - also preferably high up the court.

Tips for WA:
- The WA should preferably receive the centre pass, as this will allow the GA to be free and get into the centre.
- WA should use short, sharp, fast movement to get away from their defence - using strong changes of direction.
- The WA should also be aware of the ball coming through court (from the defensive end). They must not come up court too early or too deep, as this will only crowd the area. When the ball is coming through court, the WA should stay in the attacking half of the centre third - this will prevent them taking other players space.

Tips for both:
- Feeding from the circle edge will give you the best chance of a successful pass into the shooters, as it removes the pressure of having a 3ft mark over the ball.
- The C and WA should work together, particularly in the goal third, to successfully feed your shooters - working on and off the circle edge, using the WD for a back up option if needed.

Hope these help.
