How can i help them improve their goal shooting
Hi Angelique,
It is great your daughters are the team's shooters and they would be able to practice together. Firstly, having the correct technique is incredibly important - you can find this here.
I would say having confidence in their own ability is key - this means having the confidence to put the shot up and always going for rebounds. However, I think this mostly comes with practice, so get them to practice whenever they have time, as this will help perfect their technique and make them more accurate. I have attached a fun practice below that will help your girls practice shooting from a range of distances in order to gain confidence and improve. This drill can be done alone or with each other. Get your girls to set themselves challenges e.g. how long it takes them to score from each cone and then try to cut this time down each time. Or they can create a fun competition between themselves and assign different cones different points e.g. further out cones 5 points and closer cones 1 point and see who gets the most points.
Hope this helps.
Hi Angelique,
In the team that I play for the centres are sisters and they swap out every now and then so I know exactly what you are talking about, itâs really good that are both the teams sisters as they work together on court They already know each otherâs strengths and weaknesses and how they play together. This is really key for training as they both have a very important roles in the team.
What I recommend is that you look at what they need work on whether Its collaboration, moving In the circle, feeding, footwork in the circle, shooting techniques, anything. You need to identify them ASAP so you can get them Doing drills that will help them become better netball players.
Hope this helps!
