i'm in the same boat but so far i've found lots of games work. river, bank bridge is good and piggie in the middle, for defence i done some shadowing using the rule of only one step at a time (otherwise they just run all over the place. I'll be watching for any other suggestions people make for you. thanks for asking
Thanks Paula. If you get to read my reply (i'm not sure how this forum works), what is river, bank, bridge? My girls love 'Principal's Office' - they stand in a line and shoot for goals. if they miss, they stand behind the base line (that's the principal's office), if someone gets a goal, those in the office get to return to the line. If no-one gets a goal, then the team run to Centre & do 5 star jumps and then start all over again. I'm glad I've asked my question, there's probably more of us in the same boat. Good luck for the season.
Hi Leisa, games are the best. One I can suggest and I still use it right up to state League level is a game called Tag it is based on using only one third and placing small mats (islands) randomly, not to far for the younger children. The object is to make each player move from one island to the other once they pass the ball. When they get used to that then add 2 defenders who have to try and tag the person who has to move to the next island. When tagged they then swap positions. This will teach them how to defend and how to move. I hope I have explained this sufficiently for you.

Footwork is the foundation of every skill in netball. This guide provides a clear explanation of the stepping rule, the mechanics of one-foot and two-foot landings, pivoting technique, and progressive drills to build footwork confidence from junior level upward.
The early 'shoot from anywhere' era is over. Smart teams now use data-driven decision models to decide when the two-pointer is worth it.
