I have a player who after many years still has trouble catching the ball - seems her hands are too hard - the ball just seems to bounce out of them. Any ideas?
Hi Karen. Over the years i have had this problem with players, There is always a reason. The trick is to find it. All players eventually can catch the ball. Look to see if she holds her hands in the butterfly shape. Make sure at the point of catching she does not briefly shut her eyes. Some players thrust at the ball at the point of collection which creates a bounce off the palms. The hands and arms should slightly retract to create a type of shock absorber. Drills such as rebounding off a wall and continual catching with corrections work well. The problem is not insurmountable just requires persistence. Good luck Yours in Netball Mark Jones
Hi, Just a few suggestions, maybe try her wearing gloves, maybe her hands hurt or she is scared to catch the ball in case it hurts. Also try make catching fun like playing pass ball or learderball to help with catching. Hope this helps
