How do you deal with a GD and GK double marking a shooter from front and behind? The shooter unfortunately does not have much of a gap to shot the ball. Also how do you deal with a defender who constant,y marks you facing you with practically a 1 inch gap between you and her? Especially in the semi circle? Thanks
you`re luck they are giving her an inch!!! thats more than i give when im defending...lol if the GS is being double teamed just get her to relax and keep to the edge of the circle on the opposite side that the ball is coming down so that the circle is opened up for the GA to come in. once they are in then the defence tends to go back to one on one or defending an area of the circle. for face to face that leaves the defender completely unaware of where the ball is coming. the GS needs to hold her ground, use her peripheral vision to watch the ball come down the court and then break at the last second for the pass.
if the defender is blocking during a shot being taken they MUST give the shooter room to comfortably make a normal shooting action. if the umpire is not calling them up for obstruction, then talk to the umpire about this during a break about the rule and if nothing is done then speak to the umpiring conveyor about this.
hope that helps.
Thank you for that

Split circle defence is the system the top three NSL teams have built their identity around in 2026. The Goal Keeper and Goal Defence divide the circle into zones, switch in synchrony, and make every passing option look risky. Here is how to coach it.
Most netball shooters know how to shoot. The difference at the top is who can shoot when it counts. A structured 10-minute pre-game mental routine is the most under-used performance tool in club netball - and it is the simplest to teach.
The best Goal Defences in the 2026 NSL season are intercepting more than ever. The reason is not raw athleticism. It is a deliberate shift from chasing the attacker to driving into the flight path of the ball. Here is how to coach it.
