Netball: Co-ordination Passing

Red player 1 passes the ball to Blue player 1, and then runs forward to receive a return pass from Blue player 1. Red player 1 passes to Blue player 2, receives return pass and then passes the ball to Red player 2, and joins line behind Red player 2.

Players work in groups of 6 with two balls per group. First two players in each line have a ball Player 1 starts the drill with a pass to thrower and then runs out to the other side where they receive the return pass from the thrower. Meanwhile the next free player (player 3) runs out,looking to receive the pass from player 1. Meanwhile everything is being started and repeated with player 2 passing to the Thrower etc. Drill then continues in this way, but this time to the other side.

Set up : 2 balls a third court space 8+ players 4 lines, 2 facing eachother.   2 players (workers) from front of the lines swith no ball, drive straight to receive a flat pass from the line directly opposite. Ball is passed back and working player changes angle to receive a lob over top. Working player turns and passes ball back to the line they started in then diagonally cuts across to the opposite line Worker drives onto ball and receives a flat pass from the receiver of previous pass. Worker passes to the line diagonally opposite from where they started.

Grids 5 by 5 m. Player on each corner. 1 ball between 4. Players pass the ball clock wise and after each pass the player follws the passs to touch the cone of the player they passed to and then runs back to their own cone.

4 players in a square ( cones can be used ) players pass the ball clockwise around the 4 corners of the square. After each pass the player follows the ball to the next corner and turns to return to receive the ball by the original corner when the ball comes round again. All players should be moving before they receive the ball.

You can compare this exercise to a extremely difficult sudoka. Trying to put this one into words is near enough impossible. Good luck trying to work it out.

This drill will help your players pass around a defender's 3ft mark by encouraging them to use different release points and angles. Two feeders stand at opposite sides of a third with 2 workers in the middle who will change between being attack and defence. One feeder passes to the worker closest to them who becomes an attacker. The other worker becomes a defender and immediately puts their arms up to stop the pass from the attacker to the feeder at the other side. Once the attacker has passed to the feeder the drill reverses and the workers in the middle swap attack/defence. The players work on an imaginary straight line, so they can't move out to get the pass around the defender. 2 sets of 12 passes for each attacker

2 balls 4 players 2 players in the middle are static and need to turn on the spot. the other 2 players move between 2 corners. Middle player passes the ball to player on the outside. outside player passes diagonal across to other middle player and moves to the other corner to receive back the ball. to then pass it again across to the other middle player.

Have two lines of players both stood behind a cone on the edge of the first third. The red player starts with the ball. The blue player sprints to the cone on the baseline and receives the diagonal overhead pass from the red player. Once they have received the ball the blue player then passes the ball to the next player in their team before sprinting the back of their line. The drill repeats the other way round (blue passing to red). Drill continues in this way.

In pairs with 1 ball between 2. 1 passes to 2 then moves to next cone to receive return ball. Other player does the same. Players must always receive the pass on the move, so timing of the move is very important.

Working in pairs with 1 ball players should pass and move using side-steps along the entire length of the court.

Setup the practice as shown. The worker throws the ball to their partner before running around behind them and back to their starting position. As the worker is running back they will be thrown a high pass by the feeder.

Split players into groups of at least 8 players, with 2 balls set up as per diagram. The balls start with the 2 end players in the same line. Players pass the ball straight to start the practice but there after the ball goes diagonally. Repeat for 1 minute then players switch positions. Players pass to the same player and receive from the same player every time.

Split the group into 8s. 2 Balls starting with Player 1 and Player 4. The players then pass the balls diagnoally until the ball reaches an end. They then pass the ball straight to the person opposite them and continue the practice.

1 worker, 2 throwers with a ball each. The worker (blue) alternatively receives passes from each thrower (red) and returns the ball to the thrower who passed them the ball. The feeders then continue with to feed the ball, gradually increasing the speed of pass to test the worker!

Player 1 feeds the ball for player 2 to reach out and retrieve with or without a jump Players to be 1m apart as this will increase reactions
