DESCRIPTION

Create a diamond shape with 4 cones

Two players will work and will set up one on the back cone and one on the front cone

The two players will work together and read off each other to balance the diamond

As RED drives back (1), BLUE drives forward (1)

If RED moves latterally (2) BLUE may drive up (2)

The drill is continous and the players should work for a set time

COACHING POINTS

Ensure the players movement is short and sharp

The workers should focus on their angles - having a small footbase and turning their hips quickly

The back player should read off the front player. When the players are latteral one player must be dominant and make a drive

The diamond should always be balanced

shooting rotation practice:

Three players perform this drill with two balls.

Two players stand by the post with a ball each, while the third player is stood outside of the circle.

Player one shoots and then collects the ball, before player two passes the ball to the players who is outside of the circle, who then returns the ball to player two outside of the circle.

Player three then moves in towards the post to receive the final pass in the sequence, and shoots before collecting the ball.

Player one in the mean time, starts the same pass sequence with player two, who is now the new player outside the circle, and the drill continues in this fashion.

Shooting

Cones - run/balance/shoot:

One player, the feeder, starts on the edge of the circle. The other player, the worker (number 1 in the diagram) runs around one of the cones set out on the edge of the shooting circle, then drives back into the circle to receive the ball before making the shot.

Shooter collects the successful shot or rebound, passes back out to the feeder and repeats with an alternative cone.

The Backline Pass Roll:

The GK has a back line pass. The Centre takes up her position just in middle of transverse line giving the impression she is not going to be involved in this immediate passage of play... but SHE IS!

The WD and GD roll away to opposite directions (taking their chasing opponents with them) leaving huge space for the centre to drive into receiving the ball at the top of the circle.

The centre, remembering to use the 3rs (receive, rotate and release) passes to the WD, who passes to the GD. Again the ball has progressed from defence to attack over 2/3rds of the court in 3 "simple" passes.

McD's- Midcourt driving options into shooter.:

Set up: Goal third, 1 ball, 1 passer, 2 midcourt, 1 shooter, 2-3 defence.

Ball starts with passer behind transverse line.
Both midcourt players drive from the transverse line to circle edge then back off again (creating the âMâ).
Passer delivers ball to one of the midcourt players off the circle who then delivers the second ball to the other midcourt plyer on the circle edge. Option: Passer candeliver directly to shooter who may choose to come out of the circle. Shooter then is to deliver a pass to a midcourter and get into position.
Ball delivered to shooter, who puts the shot up.
