Netball: React and Catch

Teach your players to be sharp, fast and strike before they receive the ball to win back possession for your team!

We start this netball session with two classic schoolyard warm up games before then getting your players to be more positive in defence, moving forward to force the fumble!

Players in pairs with 1 ball between them.

They have to keep possession of the ball by passing it around and running into spaces, whilst 1 or 2 catchers are nominated to try and intercept the balls.

When a pair lose the ball, they move out of the area and those intercepting continue to do so until all balls have been intercepted OR a time limit is reached.

The two blue players pass the ball between themselves quickly and accurately. Meanwhile the white players stands in the middle, watching the ball pass from left to right.

When they are ready the white player should position themselves between the ball and its intended recipient to make the interception.

Split the group into minimum of 3 people with one ball per group.

Player 2 runs to the side to receive ball from player 1.

They then turn and feed the ball to player 3 (the next player waiting in line).

Player 3 feeds the ball back to player 1 as player 2 moves quickly through to try and intercept the pass.

Half the group have a ball each, the other half has to stand tactically in between the two lines.

The players with the balls start behind the line and have to try and get across to the other line by using the static players (middle players can pivot on the spot).

1 or 2 catchers have to try and intercept the balls.

Players caught out must either sit out or help catch out the remaining players.
