Description
*** AUDIO DESCRIPTION ON ***
Coaches objective:
To promote weight transfer whilst on the move, keeping the ball under control with the movement.
Purpose:
To retain possession but eliminate if the defender attempts a challenge. The weight transfer can be great to create a dummy or to accelerate away from a challenge when the skill has been performed.
Coaching points
- Encourage the attacker to find a tempo that they're comfortable with to begin with.
- Keep the ball out infront the attacker to encourage them to get their eyes up and impove their vision whilst on the move.
- Ensure the attacker is shifting their weight fully to one side, almost over-exagerrating the movement with their non-standing leg to spring to the other side.
- Work the player in both directions so they get used to transfering their weight and drag the ball both ways so they're comfortable when performing the elimination skills.
