COACHING POINTS

Defenders Aim is to: Protect the Middle Ensure Deep Defender Marks (covers pass to) Most Dangerous player (Closest to goal) Deep Defender & GK communicate to High Defender High Defender stays central to force ball wide, don't let the ball on the inside, force pass wide High defender closes space to ball carrier while cutting pass to other attacker (2 v 1) Can change to 4 v 3: in which case defenders still want to mark the 2 players closest to goal and make the 2 v 1 furthest away. Can add a recovering defender to make it 3 v 3, but not til the ball enters the penalty circle.
