Setup: Area: 25m x 20m grid divided into 2 vertical zones. Players: 3 attackers, 2 defenders, and 1 neutral passer. Activity: Attackers position themselves in defenders' blind spots, moving sharply into open passing lanes. Backdoor leads are used when defenders overcommit to their marking. Passer alternates delivering the ball to the attackers as they lead. Adaptations: Simpler: Allow attackers to use the entire grid. More Difficult: Add a third defender or limit the time attackers have to lead.
Coaching Points: Blind Spot Lead: Stay on the defenderâs shoulder and move quickly into view for the passer. Backdoor Lead: Fake away from the ball, then cut sharply behind the defender. Encourage scanning and communication.
