Stationary Dribbling
SET-UP: Place pancakes opposite of each other. Each child stands on a pancake with a basketball.
Non-bouncing movements:
DRIBBLING TECHNIQUE - Knee's bent, head up, snap the wrist down.
Bouncing Movements:
2 ball dribbling Children partner up and both basketballs go to one person. For 1 minute they perform 2 ball dribbling then when the coach says "SWITCH" they give the two basketball for their partner to do the same then. Tip: Dribble the basketballs low. The lower the easier
Once completed, finish with TENNIS BALL catching. How to do it:
Use child as a demonstration:
- Child dribbles the ball with either hand, coach gently underarm and throws a tennis ball on the opposing hand. The player must catch the tennis ball while maintaining the dribble and then throw it back.
Then finish with a moving dribbling race. Assign everyone a number either 1,2 or 3. When there number is called they must dribble race to the other side. Repeat several times, and add variations to keep engaged.
