- Use circles on the court as a guide for players to "break the read line" if possible. If not set up 4 cones in a diamond pattern.
- A passes the ball to D upon making eye/verbal contact
- D moves in for the catch and lands on both feet to keep both pivot options open
- A follows pass to set up as defender
- D reads the defender and drives to "attack the back" (if defender is straight on A has both option open and can drive in either direction)
- D performs proper cross step pivot and drives powerfully to step past the cone, then dribbles backward into the starting point position
- A follows as defender for one step only to provide pressure for simulation
- Roles now reverse and D passes the ball to A while using the same pivot foot action to step into the pass
