zone principle two : defenders should be anticipating potential passes

Very useful format and descriptions of drills. I am using Sportplan...
Tony, Coach

DESCRIPTION

same set up as principle one. in this example coach kicks the ball to the player at the top of the key and their defender who is on the baseline closes out. the offensive player takes on the defender with one dribble and then kicks the ball out to one of their team mates. The defenders on the base line should be ready to run out and close out their man if they get the ball. Once the ball is kicked to an offensive player and they are picked up by their defensive player they take one dribble to beat their man and then the ball is passed back to the coach.
