Jo, Netball Coach

DESCRIPTION

  • 2 lines of players start of the backline.
  • Attacking players set up, stationary in a triangle formation, opposite the 2 lines about 5 meters away.
  • 1 defenders starts by positioning themselves in the middle of the stationary attackers.
  • Ball starts with 1 of the players on the backline.
  • The pass to the other player on the backline and immediately get in a defensive position to intercept a pass.
  • The player who has received the ball looks to pass to 1 of the stationary attackers.
  • The stationary attacker then returns the pass to the player on the backline.
  • The backline player then attempts to make another pass to an attacker.
  • The 2 defending players should be occupying space around the attackers, looking to intercept the passes from the baseline player.

COACHING POINTS

  • Defenders should be active, on their toes, ready to make an interception on a pass to the attackers.
  • The defenders starting position is key as they don't want to over commit in either direction, potentially offering as easy pass.
