Netball: Two Balls, Two Games

4 players line up, each standing on a corner of the square with one player stood between two cones with the ball. The drill starts when the player with the ball passes the ball diagonally, anti-clockwise, with a chest/ shoulder pass to the next player who is running forward to receive the pass. After they have passed the ball the players should stand on the next cone. This player then passes diagonally to the next player before running to the next cone.

Full court, 6+ players, 1 passer, 1ball. Ball starts down one end of the court with a passer to start the drill. 3 sets of partners set up down the court. Partner set 1 drives away from passer then forwards. Passer decides who to pass the ball too. The player who does not recieve the pass is to drive out and down the court.  Other partners repeat this process.

Full team lined up down the length of the court about 2 metres off the midline. 1.Ball starts down one end of the court. Players are to drive straight to reci 2. Players are to make a movement (i.e. dodge) before receiving the ball in the middle of the court. Players to turn and pass down the court. 2. Players make a movement before driving into the middle of the court. 3. First player in the line 'clears out', second player drives foward to receive the pass. Pass is given to the player who has peeled out and so on down the court.  

10+ players, 5+ balls, half court area. 1. Half of the players stand in a star/circle shape, these are the feeders. 2. Each feeding player has a partner who stands next to them to start, these are the workers. 3. Each feeder has a ball. 4. Workers drive into the middle and recieve a pass from the feeder two people away. i.e. they skip a person. 5. Worker passes back to the line they have come from and drives towards the feeder who delivers a short bounce pass.  6. The feeder continues to drive around the worker and recives a long pass into the middle. 7. Worker passes the ball back out to initial feeder who passes the ball back. 8. Worker skips another feeder and passes to them, then joins the line.   

Full team cross drill Set up: 8+ players, one court space, 2 balls. Players set up in four corners in equal numbers, opposite lines facing each other. Both balls start on the same side with the person and the front of the line. Opposing front 2 players drive out on a diagonally and receive a pass from the opposite line. They turn pass back to the side they came from (but the opposite line). Then immediately become a defender for the person who now has the ball.  The person now at the front of the line, with the ball now delivers a pass to players who have driven out on a diagonal and the drill begins again. 

A starts with the ball ORANGE drives and receives the ball from A (1) RED drives straight to receive the ball from ORANGE (2) Orange does a 'give and go' to receive the ball back from Red, landing circle edge (3) ORANGE then drives high into the third to receive the ball back from RED (4) YELLOW drives out straight to receive the ball from RED (5) RED does a 'give and go' to receive the ball back from YELLOW (6) YELLOW then drives deep to land circle edge and receives the ball back from RED (7) BLUE drives into the circle and receieves the ball from YELLOW (8) The practice is then repeated in the same order. To begin tell each player to go back to their orignal queue - so they are practicing the same movement over and over. 

GK backline throw in GK backline passes to – WD on circle edge pocket – GK drives up for a square pass from WD – GD receives pass from GK in centre third – C receives a straight pass – GA straight pass – WA straight pass into the goal third – GS straight pass top of circle – WA circle edge pocket – pass into GA to put up shot.

This drill works best with the full squad (10+ players). One feeder stands at the side of each third of the court (white in the diagram). These players are on the same side as the attacker (red 1 in the diagram). There are 2 defenders in each third (blue in the diagram). Using just half the width of the court, Red 1 has to work their way down the court receiving three passes from the player at the side of the court, in each third.

A good game for finishing sessions as it is short and fast paced. Play twice for 4 minutes at a time. Play with normal rules, however each time an error is made the player must leave the court and do 5 press ups before then coming back into play to rejoin the game.

Using one third, set up 4 feeders along the third line and split the third in half using cones Create two lines - one line of attackers and one line of defenders  The attacker must get the ball in front of the line of cones (1) and then behind the line of cones (1) from the same feeder - therefore each attacker will receive 8 balls, 2 from each feeder  If the defender intercepts the ball is simply passed to the next feeder and the practice continues  Once each person has attacked and defended twice you can switch the feeders out

Red 2 has the ball and red 1 starts in the opposite corner Blue 1 runs forward and Red 2 passes a diagonal pass to Blue 1 Red 1 moves on a diagonal to intercept the pass Following the interception red 1 feeds a straight pass onto Blue 2 Red 2 then runs straight to receive a diagonal pass from Blue 2 and Blue 1 moves across to intercept this pass.  

*AUDIO DESCRIPTION ON* 6+ players set up in a circle with 1 ball and 2 defenders in the middle.  Players in the circle pass amongst themselves but cannot pass to the player next to them.  Defenders are to work together to intercept the ball. If successful, defenders join the circle and new defenders are in the middle. 

Set up: One ball, full court, 5+ players. 1. Players line up down the middle of the court, evenly spaced.  2. Ball starts at one end and will simply be passed down to each player.  3. Players have to make a movement and time this with receiving the ball. 4. Player recieves a pass then turns and passes down the line.  

1 Ball, 2 players face each other. Both players pass the ball straight alternating between left and right hand (with hand at shoulder height) Progression 2 Balls, 2 Players face each other. Both players pass the balls straight and at the same time.

Set up: 4 corners set up 2 feeders (static and with a ball each)  Two players work together and drive out from opposite lines on the same half. Players straight drive to meet in the middle and touch (high 5). Both players then V cut towards direction of the feeder. Feeder delivers the ball to any one of the drivers. The driver who does not receive the ball becomes the attacker. The attacker must react and cross cut through court to receive a long pass in the opposite side of the court from the partner they have been working with who received the ball. Attacker to then return ball to the feeder on the opposite side to where they started.

*AUDIO DESCRIPTION ON* Pass and Drive Set up: 1 ball, shooting third, 4 lines of players The ball starts with player on middle of transverse line (A). Player from the line midway down sideline (B), drives in front of A to receive a pass. Player B passes from middle of the third/top of the circle on a diagonal out to player standing at the corner of transverse and sideline intersection (C).  Player B joins line player C is from. Player C delivers ball to a player (D) who has driven from baseline corner to the edge of the circle. At the same time player D drove out, another player (E) from the same line drives into the circle.  Player D delivers ball to player E in the circle. Players D and E act as WA/C and GS/GA feeding in and out of circle. Player E may choose to put up a shot.  Player E delivers ball back to starting point A. 

The red players around the outside square have a ball each and move anti-clockwise around the box. Red players must make a pass inside to the blue players when they are on a corner and receive the return pass when they reach the half way point down the line. They then play another one-two pass receiving the return pass on the corner of the square.

Groups of 6 with one ball per group. Player 6 starts with the ball, with player 5 starting to move in to receive the ball before passing the ball onto player 1. Player 5 goes behind player 1. Player 1 then passes the ball to player 6 who has made a run to receive the ball. Progression - Having fed out, the player defends the next pass i.e Player 5 passes to player 1 and then defends the pass from player 1 to player 6.
