DESCRIPTION

*AUDIO DESCRIPTION ON*

  • 4 players.
  • 1 feeder starts with the ball approximately on the 3rd line in shooting 3rd.
  • 1 defender stands front on to feeder with 1 attacker screening this defender (see coaching points if unsure on setup).
  • Other attacker to stand on the opposite side to the side being screened. They are to either drive across the pair or cut behind them to receive a pass from the feeder.
  • The screening attacker then rolls off the defender and receives a pass in the space.

COACHING POINTS

  • Screen position- Stand close to the defender blocking them from the space player would like to receive the ball. In this instance, stand facing defender with back to the free space.
  • Make sure the pass is passed into the space so the attacker is driviing into it and the defender cannot reach it.
  • If on the circle edge, screening attacker to land directly on the circle edge so no defenders can get around.
  • A great set play for centre passes. Easily communicated as the screen body language is obvious for the Centre to pick up on.

PROGRESSION

  • Once the attackers have a feel for the screen and the movement, have the defenders actively defending.
  • Introduce a second defender on the currently free attacker.
  • Change the location of the screen on the court.
