DESCRIPTION

In pairs standing two meters apart.

The receiver stands with their back to the feeder on the balls of their feet, ready to quickly turn.

The receiver makes a sharp 180 degree turn and drives to either the left or right hand cone. The feeding player must fire a fast ball to the receiver who returns it before then turning away again.

Passing and reactions: Listen, drive and receive:

Two Players, One ball.

The receiver Stands on the center cone, facing AWAY from the feeder.

The feeder, standing three meters away from their partner is standing in a forward stance, ready to pass the ball.

The feeder will give a command, directing the receiver the either stay, run left or run right. Depending on the command, the receiver must make a quick and decisive 180 degree turn to face their partner before then driving to receive and return the pass from where they have been directed to by their partner.

This drill will ensure your players drive onto the ball and don't dawdle.

Ball skills

One handed passing:

Stand about 2 metres apart.

In pairs with one ball between two.

1 ball, 2 players face each other. Both players pass the ball to their partners right hand then change to the left.
Progressions

Change the height of the ball (e.g from shoulder to waist)

Add movement - forwards/backwards/sideways. Move as a pair.

Add 2 balls

Ball skills

Catching on the Move:

Set up 4 cones in a square, 3m apart

3 players start on different corners (leaving the top right corner free).

The player at the bottom right runs to the free corner to receive the ball from the Player at the top left.

The player at the bottom left runs to the now free corner to receive the ball.

In this way players move around the square anticlockwise.

Once they have made it back to their starting position, reverse the direction.

Ball skills

Out and in to receive the ball in the middle:

1 worker 1 feeder

1 ball 4 spots

Worker runs out one of the spots to run back to the middle to receive the ball pass it back to the feeder and run out to the next spot (either in clock or anti clock wise direction).
