Netball Drill Demonstration
|
Description
Players have 1 ball each. They start in a space away from one another on the netball court.
- Player stands still while patting the ball backwards and forwards in her hands (as before) but this time she moves the ball up and down her body- she will have to bend down and reach up high, still keeping the ball moving.
- Do this on the spot for 30 seconds, then get the players jogging again, still keeping the ball moving.
- After 1 minute of jogging players to complete 5 lunges on each leg, still keeping the ball moving between their hands and up and down.
- Once completed, swap balls with another player like before.
Coaching points
Players are looking to achieve a steady rhythm when completing these drills. This will take time. Demand quality before speed to ensure the player is working on her ball skills and is not just relying on luck.
Players need to keep their finger tips and elbows soft. Cushion the ball when it meets the hand.
Players should always keep their eye on the ball.
Progression
You can increase the jogging time, or even speed up the jogging to a run if the players are doing well.
