Positional Play:

Pick a position on the pitch and decide (right defender) a) which players feed the position (sweeper) b) which 2 players can he/she pass to (right wing and inside forward). The feeder then keeps feeding the ball to the position chosen. The passes from this player alternate between the other two who feed pass the ball back to the feeder.

Passing & Receiving

Playing into space:

2 players have to cleverly pass the ball to each other to create an opportunity to pass through the goal to the other side (into space).

The defender can only intercept once the ball has gone through the goal.

Self Pass

Receive and Dribble Fitness:

Player without the ball receives the ball from one of the players and runs with it around the far cone and passes the ball back. He/she then receives the next ball from the other player in front of the near cone etc.

Passing with Decision Making:

Setup the practice as shown with cones 5m, 10m and 15m away.

Split the group into pairs.

Player 1 remains behind the line while player 2 moves backwards and forwards into the different zones. The position of player 2 determines what kind of return pass is made. This exercise develops decision making as well as using three passing techniques in one exercise.
