Excellent drills, very detailed videos. Useful site for my U15 boys...
Parry, U15 boys Hockey Coach

DESCRIPTION

  • Players set up in pairs, this is a 1 v 1 situation
  • One player starts with the ball and dribbles towards the defender
  • The defender must then tackle the attacker with their open stick, using one hand only.
  • COACHING POINTS

  • The defender should maintain a low body position when tackling
  • The defender's hand on the stick should be towards the bottom of the grip, to keep a strong hold of the stick
  • Keeping the stick flat adjacent to the floor, the defender should push against the ball, keeping momentum to win the ball from the attacker.
