Setup: Rectangular playing area. At least 2x balls per attacker. 1 hoop per attacker. Select 1/3 of players to be defenders, remainder are attackers. Procedure: Attackers must fetch a ball and dribble it back into their hoop. Defenders must tackle attackers (hitting their ball out) or tag them (if they have no ball). In both cases, the caught attacker must then go and touch their hoop before trying again. Stop playing when there are no more balls to collect. The attacker who has collected the most balls wins. Play 3 rounds, switch defenders each time. Note: attackers cannot steal balls from each other. Variations: Use cones instead of hoops: attackers line up their collected balls behind their own cone. Easier for attackers: widen the pitch to increase chances of success. Youngest players: Youngest attackers can only be tagged/tackled by 1-2 designated players. Youngest defenders only need to tag players who have a ball.
This activity is to practice carrying (dribbling). It is aimed at Under-10 players. Feedback: Can you carry the ball to space? Can you dribble to the defenders' reverse/closed side? Can you put your body between the defender and your ball? Who can hoard the most balls?
