DESCRIPTION

Two teams of five start opposite each other, one team on the 23m line and the other starting with possession on the half way line. Only attacking players can enter the 23m area before the ball does ie. Defenders must remain outside of the 23m area until the attackers have penetrated this line. Ones attackers are in possession over the 23m line they must quickly aim to score. Defenders are allowed to recover back at this point

COACHING POINTS

Start with two attackers already in the 23m area. Vary the start of the game e.g. ask the defenders to try to penetrate the press with a crach ball or aerial. What constitutes a good pass over distance? Necessity, accuracy and timing. When is the best time to pass the ball? Just before the defender has any opportunity to intercept the pass allowing the receiver as much time and space as possible. What are the tasks of the defending team? Defenders should concentrate on protecting their feet in the circle and not giving away cheap fouls.
