Michael Doubell Coach, South Africa

DESCRIPTION

Red A passes to Red D. Red D passes back to Red A. Now the 1v1 starts. Red A tries to score while Red D prevents that. The moment a goal is scored, a tackle is made or the ball is lost over the backline or outside the D the game stops. Blue A will then starts in the next block. Rotation: Red A becomes Red D. Red D joins Blue A line. Same in second block but Blue D goes to Red A line.

COACHING POINTS

Defender to put pressure on attacker as soon as the 1v1 starts. Pushes attacker to the side away from the goalbox by giving space on the outside. Get head down by jabbing. Stay a stick and a step away. Tackle when ball gets away from stick - be patient - wait for it... Inside the D make sure the defender stay close to the attacker (safety). When attacker attemps a shot move even closer and jab ball away. Defender must always stay between the ball and the goalbox. Left leg in front, protect feet, feet towards goalbox where possible.
