Community | Chest and hook pass

Antonio Rodrigues Coach, Cape Verde

DESCRIPTION

Two lines under the basket, with one of them starting with a ball. The first player with the ball makes a chest pass to the player in the opposite line, who returns the pass in the same way as they advance up the court until reaching half-court. Upon reaching half-court, they return to the baseline, now making overhead hook passes while widening the spacing between the lines. The players following behind, who have not yet reached half-court, should maintain a narrower formation and do the drill at the same time.

COACHING POINTS

It is not necessary to wait for one pair of players to finish the drill before the next one starts. All players must keep advancing in a line, one behind the other, creating some confusion and forcing them to develop court vision. This drill is very useful for improving the ability to make overhead hook passes with both hands in pick and roll situations.
