Tackle bag will act as the ‘tackled player’. One student will ruck over the tackle bag, holding onto the ball: a strong structure is required to ensure they are balanced when hands are removed from the ball. The second student will ‘break through the window’, getting under the player and forcing them off the ball. Swap positions and repeat.
Players in the ruck position must get low by dropping the hips when approaching the ruck and must keep their head up and back straight, to create a stable structure that cannot be pushed away.
Maintaining a low body position enables greater protection of the ball and limits opportunities for the opposition to get under and push the player off.
