Outlet Drill #2 - Advanced Passing, Leading & Receiving

DESCRIPTION

Back 5 practice their outletting skills of passing, moving and receiving with an importance placed on quality of:

  • timing of lead
  • pass
  • receive to do next thing

Vary starting position of the ball within the defensive 25.

  • Back 4 only Zone of defensive 16yds and within 5 yds of sideline.

COACHING POINTS

  • Fullback positioning on the 16 yard hit in order to pass forward, left and right. Dummy passes if necessary.
  • Different passes
  1. Push
  2. Hit
  3. Slap Hit
  4. Reverse Stick Slide
  5. Overhead both long and short
  6. RFB to RH is short
  7. LFB to RH is long
  • Pre-Scanning
  • Receiving position in order to do the next thing (RH in front of Right Foot, LH in front of Left Foot (reverse stick) or right foot toward left foot (flat stick).
  • Passes should where possible should
  1. Go out and then in
  2. Go in and then out
  3. Around in 3 passes (with a skip pass)
  • Move from a Back 4 to a Back 3
  1. FB pushes in to 2nd CH
  2. RH pushes in to 2nd CH, RFB & LFB alter accordingly.
  3. LFB moves central, RFB moves right and RH pushes forward to a right midfield position.
