Players in possession of the ball are not allowed passing or receiving the ball in the diamond in the centre of the field. A player is allowed running through the diamond but not while they have the ball in possession, they must first pass the ball to another player open.
The purpose of this exercise is to get the players to pass the ball wide and receive it wide instead of always going through the centre. Going through the centre is the easiest way to give the ball into the oppossesions hands.
