Setup: End quarter with three transversal lines (one is a backline). Orange cones placed towards corners of pitch. Procedure: 3 teams. Two teams in play at any one time. Turn-and-burn. When a team scores, they attack the other goal, and the resting team replaces the conceding team. 1pt per goal (bonus pt for high goals). Goals can be scored anywhere in end third. Then add progressions. Progressions (scoring rules): Use all rules, or just (1) or (2). Scoring: 2pt per goal, 1pt for passing across two lines Scoring: 4pt for goals after crossing from wide zones (marked by orange cones) Variations: If no goal scored after [1]min, coach calls a team off If players are too inactive on sidelines: switch to a match with 2 teams only Extend pitch widthways (to 1/3 pitch line) or lengthways (use full 1/4 pitch)
This game incentivises moving the ball forward by passing, and crossing the ball. Questions/feedback: Are we mostly carrying/passing over lines? How can you get easy points? (by passing forward) In order to pass forward, what do we need at the end of our pass? (someone leading into space)
