DESCRIPTION

Students will practice offensive and defensive basketball skills in a competitive 1v1 game. 1. Have students line up in two lines facing off against their partner. Go through the rules of the game: Rock/paper/scissors. 2. Have students practice against each other, loser has to drop and do 5 push ups. 3. Once the rules are explained have the students line up as shown in diagram 3, and assign numbers. 4. Explain and demonstrate rules of the drill. A. Teacher calls two numbers (3 3) B. Students run to the free throw line and play rock/paper/scissors C. Winner becomes the attacking player, loser becomes the defending player D. Winning player moves beyond the three point line to receive the ball E. Losing player runs to touch the marking cone before turning to defend F. Attacker drives for the lay up G. Loser turns to defend H. Successful lay up shot requires the player to go to the halfway line to fulfil passing duties, alternatively, if the defender is successful they will fulfil these duties
