Players will run with the ball in a staright line following the path of their cone colours
The purpose is not about speed but rather ensuring that the players head is up in order to avoid collision
Players need to respond to the following commands:
Green light - Go
Red light - Stop
Motorway - go faster
Roundabout - find a cone and go round it
Left turn - carry the ball on the backhand
Players will only use their left hands in order to get used to this being the dominant hand for hockey.
Ball must be in front of feet.
Coaches must make sure that the basic grip is correct.
When the ball is on the backhand, players must change their grip to the one hand grip.
Right hands are used to change grip, stop the ball and to go around the cones.
