I love using Sportplan. It's been a great help for co-ordinating hockey...

DESCRIPTION

3 Person Warm-up:

First set: Jogging, jumping jacks, knee hugs

Second Set: Skipping, squats, quadricep stretch

Third set: Side shuffle, lungs, side lung

Fourth set: Run, Burpee, kick across your body (Hamstring)

Follow Your Pass: Divide students into groups of 6-8. Each group gets one ball. Using the inside of foot, pass the ball across the circle to a player opposite; then follow your pass and take the position of that player across the circle who will have vacated that position by the time they get there. Call out the name of the player you are passing to.

Pong: Two players play against each other and share a ball. They place two cones anywhere from 2-8 yards apart. They choose!

Players pass back and forth to each other. The rules are that the ball must always stay on the ground, and must go thru the two cones without touching them. Begin by having the partners play cooperatively and try to get as many through the cones as they can without error.

Eventually, some students can make it a competition where if the ball is not successfully played through the gate on the ground the other person receives a point. Players have to play 2 touch, some students can potentially move to one touch. The closer the two cones are the more they closer the pairs are probably going to be. The farther apart they are, the more they will have to move laterally and look more like the old arcade “pong” game. Play for time and see who can become the PONG Champ!

Three Passes: Divide students into teams of 5 or 6. In a grid have students try to make three consecutive passes to receive a point. No player may touch the ball twice in a row.

-If scoring is slow make two consecutive passes a point.

Alternate activity for gym: Divide the class into three teams. 1 team in the middle zone and two teams on each end zone. The teams on the end must pass the ball through the middle zone and team in the opposite end zone must receive it successfully. Students must pass the ball with their in-step and the ball has to remain on the ground at all times. The team in the middle tries to block the passes from going through. Keep each time in the middle for 90 seconds and rotate. Keep track of the points.
