Red cone is starting point- run to the blue cone that is 5 yards aay which is the lead cone. Pull drill back into the defensive half of the field to allow players to work on passing and receivng the ball toward goal.
Instructions:
Player blue A Leads from the red to the blue cone at a 60 % pace. On route to the blue cone, points with their stick right or left to indicate to player red A where they want the ball. With a sharp/ hard lead now at 100% run towards the outsdie of the orange cones to meet the ball. Once received player blue A can cross the ball or take strike at goal. This will be determined by where the receive is made.
Variations:
1. forhead receive
2. backhand/reverse stick receive
3.recevie with a pop (angle the stick to create a ramp for the ball to be lifted)
4. Face your chest to the goal. If tou arrive at the orange cone before the ball, change your body to receive the ball opposite to what you were going to do. For example, running to zone 2, you should receive the ball on your backhand but becasue you got their early and had time to adjust, you will receive on the forehand (facing goal)
FOCUS:
the receive require that the ball be receivedpassed the leading foot. this will allow you to continue your momentum towards goal. you will beat the defender with your receive. A key apsect of this drill is that the pass is of a good pace and accurate. Pass the ball wider than you think. PLayer should be running for the ball- reaching for it to that outside space to make sure it aways from D/
