Split the girls into teams of 4.
Game explained:
- 2 teams. Red team attacks blue goals, blue team attacks red goals.
- normal hockey rules but must be inside 1 metre of goal to score.
- by having 2 goals for each team, we will hopefully avoid the girls bunching together. If they spread out and pass the ball, they should have plenty of attacking opportunities, especially when the defending team start gravitating towards the ball.
- if they don’t spread out, it will be very difficult to score as there will be lots of girls crowded around the same goal.
focus points:
- not bunching together.
- when someone has the ball at the back, a teammate should go wide to give them an option and another should go high to create space/attacking opportunities.
Option: Make one player form one of the teams sit out for 30 seconds to see if the team that then gains a 4v3 advantage can use the extra player to pass the ball around freely and score a goal.
