moving the ball forward

DESCRIPTION

warm up to be completed first then move to session plan warm up.

This practice is designed to be picked apart over a few sessions and discussed in large and small groups. we will view footage to disscus what a good attck looks like and how we can incorporate into how we play as a team.

 

warm up practice

5 in a small area shape of teams choice.

keeping in mind the traffic  lights and our principle of moving the ball forward. spend 5 mins discussing how to recognise a 2v1 or 3v2 situation and how, where and why we use them in a game.

10 mins play Possesion only a 3v2 incorparting 2v1's 

switch players around

make area bigger or smaller, what changes ?

still applying the priciple of move the ball forward with intent to go forward first fast.

points for every succesful 2v1

next transistion

30mins

move to phase 1and 2 on half pitch split into 2 quarters each split as per diagram.

box 1 left and right  2v1 

box 2 left and right 3v2

move the ball forard from box 1 left to right and right  to left using an aerial or disguise pass if possible.

points for accuracy, golden points for a circle entry.

box 2 to receive in the best way to play forward fast using 2v1 and 3v2  can take shots must be a quickhit and double points for top corners. 

1 point for every 3 succesful pasess using a 2v1/3v2

5points for ever defence clearance back to halfway line, 10 points if arieled. 

Phase 3

45mins

halfpitch 9v6/7/8

following the same principle and paying attention to the red,amber ,green link together and form a solid attck incorperating all phases of attack to move the ball forward.

normal hockey rules apply move the ball forward from left to right and right to left and create 2v1and 3v2s to go forward first fast.

progress to centre channel play.

COACHING POINTS

warm up game CP 

what was your intent? what are you trying to do?

was it fluid or did it break down why?

what did you notice about the shapes ie horizontal, vertical ahead, verticle behind.

is the ball moving or are you carrying mre ? how do you move the ball?

 

phase 1and 2 CP 

still 2v1 and 3v2 so whats changed and why?

use the overload and recognise how to move through the traffic lights to  retain the ball.

use individual super powers to be more tactical when needed ie aerial, disguise pass,3d skilletc

how are you recieving the ball can you move it on quickly,have you pre scanned is your body in the right position are your team mates communicating?

do you need to send it back to retain then attack again?

can you use deception to win your battle what does it look like ? disguise pass,quick hit etc.

is your body positon right to recieve and then move forward?

hand position on stick ?

does the play look fluid or does it breakdown if so how and why?

are you creating opportunities to go forward?(change the picture)

phase 3 CP

all of the above plus 

now use a centre channel can we apply he same priciples and thought proceses to attck through the centre channel ?

how do you self organise to make this happen?

who will recognise this is an option and communicte.

are you anticipating this to be an option ?? forward first fast ? direct route /
