DESCRIPTION

Lay out a Skill Circuit as in the diagram (or similar) for players to practice various skills and finish with a shot on goal.

Include V-drags, Reverse V-drags, 3-D skills, Roll-outs etc.

Progression: Add Shooting Rules. Add defender top D for 1v1.

Roll-out: Video

Shooting Rules: Place a cone about 5metres from each post to represent a supporting forward ready for a back post deflection.

Introduce a forfeit (e.g sprint to far end of pitch) for any shot that is wide of the back post cone or ANY shot that is lifted and off target.

All shots should be aimed across the GK (except if GK is positioned poorly). This has 2 main advantages: 1) It maximises the chance of the ball rebounding into a dangerous area. 2) 'Wide' shots can easily be scored by supporting players at the back post.

Encourage players to push themselves as much as possible in order to maximise their improvement.

If there are no mistakes being made then players may be playing too far within their comfort zone or just going through the motions which must be discouraged.
